Last night's New York City event sounds like a story right out of a horror movie - a doctor helping a patient, but the patient turns on her and hacks her to death! Gruesome!

Dr. Kathryn Faughey had an office at 435 East 79th Street, in the Upper East side, where she treated troubled patients through cognitive psychology. In Psychology Today, Dr. Kathryn Faughey said "my approach is interactive, focused and solution-oriented. Sessions move quickly. I give feedback. Very practical and to the point, I practice cognitive psychotherapy effectively -- in a warm, clear and lively manner."

At 8pm Tuesday evening, one of her patients showed up at her practice and told the doorman he had a late appointment with a psychiatrist in the building. He was carrying two black bags with him. He went into Faughey's office, pulled out a meat cleaver and other knives, and brutally killed her. She screamed for help and one of her male colleagues, Kent Shinbach, came to try and help, but the madman seriously cut and injured him in the commotion as well. He also robbed Shinbach. The male patient escaped the office building through a basement door and ran out through a dark alley.

It is said the patient/killer had carefully planned this murder. When he entered Faughey's office, he was carrying a bag of knives, rope, duct tape, women's clothing, and adult diapers. He did not get to use some of the items, but he had them just in case he needed them.

When police got there, they described the horrifying scene as follows: "The desk was overturned, there was blood everywhere, and papers were strewn about."

The insane killer is still at large today. A surveillance tape shows the killer to be blonde, in his 40s, about 5'9" tall, and weighing about 200 pounds. If you have any information that could lead to the arrest of this dangerous psycho, please contact the authorities!

Dr. Faughey was 56 years old. She lived in a building across the street with her husband, Walter. The couple did not have any children.
