The Most Honest Moments of My Life

Some of the honest moments of my life are labeled as such because they hit on the most core emotions of humanity. These moments I would consider honest because they are the rawest seconds of my existence. The most whole, real, and unforgettable experiences are the few seconds in time that mold our spirit into who we are. I recall several moments in my life the most and this is because they are the moments that have defined the path I will take in life. I remember when I learned my father was no longer going to be around. I recall stinging tears in my eyes when I realized why I would never have more of a grip on him than the alcohol and addictions did. I remember when my mother fell ill, and I recall that feeling that I would never forgive myself for every fight we had, for every mean word spoken, and for every lost moment I should have spent with her if she had passed away. Likewise I recall the relief when she regained her life, and how all of those feelings rush back to me when I see her each year take her survivors lap at the cancer benefit. When my sister decided she could not stand to live at home for another minute I remember sobbing and feeling that yet again I was being abandoned, discarded, and forgotten. These moments changed my life because for each, the wind was knocked out of me and nothing has ever been the same.

Despite the horrors that we must all endure, these moments in time that change everything are necessary. Without dark there can be no light, without sorrow there can be no happiness, and without pain there can be no pleasure; or so I hear. Luckily these terrible moments pass, and positive influences shape your world.
