I love listening to the music and comedy of the 'golden age of radio.' What's not to love? Where else could you hear Frances Langford ask, "John, do you love me still?" and have Don Ameche respond, "I don't know, I've never seen you that way." Thus beginning another fast paced episode of The Bickersons. Cue music and audience applause. As a philosopher and communicator, I'm always tuned into life's questions of meaning and how to better communicate those concepts to encourage better living and deeper thinking. Recently, as I was listening to an mp3 of an old-time radio broadcast I heard an absolutely perfect presentation on how to incorporate the Law of Attraction and the lessons of Neuro-Linguistic-Programming (NLP) into every aspect of life. The teacher was Bing Crosby, and the lesson went like this:
You've got to ac-cennn-tuate the positive
E-limmm-in-ate the negative
Latch onnnn to the affirmative
And don't mess with Mr. In-between.
You've got to spread joyyyyy to the maximum
Bring gloommmmm down to a minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Is liable to show up on the scene.
Did you get all that? Everything that we teach as part of bettering our lives through the recognition and appropriation of the principles of the Law of Attraction, NLP, and living in harmony with all of the natural laws of the universe, rolled up into one little chorus from the 1940s.
