The All Clad Stainless Steel Colander is definitely a value addition to every household and I bet you will never regret for having bought this wonderful strainer. I bought this after wasting quite a sum of money and time on other useless colanders and trust me the All Clad is worth every penny. I bought the 5-quart size so that I can strain large amount of vegetables, fruits, pasta, cereals and grains in a single go instead of washing them in batches. This will never disappoint you in terms of lack of space and not even once I have felt the need for a bigger one. I also use this to strain whole steamed crabs and the water drips down immediately without making the meat soggy. This colander measures about 10-1/2 inch in diameter and the wide mouth allows the user to directly throw in steamed vegetables, boiled pasta and chopped fruits. Since it is wide the steam spreads to the surrounding and do not hit straight on to your hands. The big sized colander allows boiled pasta and noodles to cool without getting cooked further. I wish this comes with a lid so that I can close the colander and tilt it for easy straining.
Another advantage of this Colander is that it can be shaken easily to remove the last drop of water. The two roomy handles are solidly riveted on both the sides of the colander. This facilitates to hold the colander by the ears and shake them vigorously. The size and the number of holes are perfect to drain the liquid down without clogging the holes as well as not allowing the rice to escape.
Just like any other All Clad kitchen ware this Colander is also made of high quality 18/10 stainless steel material making it durable. I have been using it for more than two years and even now it is as good as first use. The stainless steel material gives a polished look and adds to the beauty. Apart from that it will not get corroded. Since stainless steel is relatively inert this can be used to hold blanched tomato also because the acid will not eat the metal. This is not possible with plastic colanders.
