Since the release of Forza Motorsport 2, many talented people have made replica's of different racing cars, where-as some have done their own designs & come up with absolute masterpieces, using the livery editor. At first glance the livery editor can be quite daunting & you might be tempted to give up on what your doing, but the key things to remember about getting that dream scheme on your car is: persistence, patience & trial & error. If you keep at it your design will soon come to life & you will feel a great sense of achievement when you take your car, donned with your design, to the track.

In this Guide I will go through through steps as to what I did to get scheme on my car pictured to the left & hopefully, this will help many of you.

The first, and most obvious, step I took was to find a car I wanted to paint & a scheme to paint on it. I chose a Porsche 911 GT2 to paint & the car I chose to copy was the Konrad Motorsport 911 GT2 from the 1997 Lemans 24 Hours. I didn't want to copy anything too big as this was my first design so I found this to be quite a simple option.

Onto the painting. This, I found, was the most difficult task. The base color for the car was to be white & the other color was to be a light blue that would be added by hand. For the painting of the blue I used a mix of different primitive shapes from the vinyl decals & started on the left side of the car. The painting of the wheel arches took quite a long time I must admit & I was not very into putting it on the other side. I found a little trick to get round this thankfully from the official Forza 2 forum: Once you have finished & are satisfied with your design on one side on the car & want to put it on the other side, head round to the other side, select an empty layer, & press A. Near the bottom of the list is an option ''copy over from left/right side''. This is what I used to get the blue I painted onto the other side of the car. It does have its limitations however: this trick works with manufacturer decals but custom decals wont work, they will come out the wrong way round, & this trick only works for the left & right sides of the cars.
