Recap: Big Brother 9, Episode 2

Ryan came over to join Jen and Parker and Jen whispered to him that she had to tell Parker and why. Ryan was surprised that their secret was out so soon, but he did not feel it was fair to Allison to keep her in the dark when Parker now knew. Allison did not take it as well as Parker. She was visibly upset and confused about this turn of events. She was shocked and disappointed. She has the beginnings of feelings towards Ryan and she believes she is better for him than Jen.

The First Alliance:

Now that Ryan and Jen's relationship is out in the open to their respective soulmates, the four of them will be playing together. Even though they all four want to believe it's a good thing, all four of them have trust issues with the alliance member of the same sex as them. Parker does not trust Ryan. Ryan does not trust Parker. Jen does not trust Allison. Allison does not trust Jen.

Eviction Ceremony:

Jen and Parker won the first ever Power Couple competition and were given the duty of choosing one couple to evict without a vote. They had sole power to choose who was going home. Because of the controversy Jacob caused the night before, Jacob and Sharon were evicted. Jen and Parker were crying over having to send Sharon home when they liked her and wanted her to stay, but they could not let what Jacob did slide.

HOH Competition:

The theme for the first HOH Competition of the season was "Tunnel of Love." There was a stream in the backyard with little boats anchored around a wharf. Because Jen and Parker were not HOH, the were able to compete in this event. Jessica Hughbanks and Eric Stein from Big Brother 8 hosted the HOH Competition.

One soulmate from each couple had to go into the tunnel of love and dress up in a costume expressing their predicted answer to the question being posed to the other half of the couple. Each person came out wearing the representation of what they thought their soulmate would answer. Couples were awarded heart cards for each round. The couple with the most heart cards would win HOH.

All of the couples got the first question correct. Only James/Chelsia and Matt/Natalie got the second question correct. Alex/Amanda, Matt/Natalie and Ryan/Allison got the third question correct. The fourth question was answered correctly by James/Chelsia, Joshuah/Neil and Adam/Shelia. Everyone but James/Chelsia got the fifth question correct. The sixth question crowed Alex and Amanda as the winners of the first HOH Competition of the season.
