While I won't say that these are "guaranteed" ways to increase your metabolism (since is anything really guaranteed in this crazy world?), they certainly wouldn't hurt to try. Raising your metabolism is fairly simple. You need to burn energy (also known as exercise) in order to have more of it. Along with burning energy, you also need to have the proper amount of rest, a well balanced diet, and drink plenty of water. A combination of these factors should enable you to increase your metabolism and have more energy throughout the day.

In order to raise your metabolism you must exercise regularly. This can be as simple as a daily vigorous walk, or as complex as long distance running and resistance training. Try to exercise at least five times a week for twenty minutes per day. And though it may be painful, try to incorporate morning exercise into your routine. Exercising in the morning will help set the tone for your body for the day, increase your metabolism, and help you feel more alert during your day. Try exercising one morning a week, be vigilant about it, and if you feel results, start a second day.

NOTE - If you're not a regular exerciser, you should always consult a physician before beginning any exercise program.

It may seem simple, but getting the proper amount of rest is essential to having a lot of energy. Surely you can remember a late night on the town and how you felt the next day? Getting eight hours of sleep allows your body to recover from the days trials and tribulations of that day, and to prepare for the next day, both mentally and physically.
