Not to sound like I am cool or anything, but at my job in the travel industry I frequently have workplace celebrity encounters. My job is maybe slightly less glamorous than being a housekeeper or landscaper of the stars. It's also different in the sense that in working with the public, I deal with a lot of ordinary assholes too. Mix up random celebrities in with the airline reality show everybody thinks is being filmed at any given moment and I can't tell the difference between my life and a bad tv show.

A celebrity must be clownishly famous for me to recognize. Michael Jackson or Britney Spears (and that's a maybe on Britney.)

Carrot Top is distinct enough with his red hair, bulging muscles and spray tan.

Someone ask me after a star encounter I didn't even know I had, "do you know who that was?"

I say "ooohh."

Andy Dick, Carrot Top, Val Kilmer, Sinbad, Jennifer Tilley, Ed Harris, and Danny Trujo are all included in the common household name celebrities that I have experienced firsthand. Who else? Shirley McClaine and her little dog. Patrick Swayze. A couple of really famous stars from the Lord of the Rings whose names are escaping me...

Pierce Bronson leered at me on a plane once.

Ron Jeremy wouldn't stop pestering me with questions about his frequent flyer account. I wanted to tell him, "Leave me alone Ron, why don't you stay out of my Surreal LIfe and go back to your own."

I problem solved with Stone Cold Steve Austin once. He is a fairly large man, but without his wrestling belt or whatever his garb is, I had no idea who he was. I didn't mention to him that I when the going gets rough I like to tell people I ask myself, "What would Stone Cold Steve Austin do?" He just said his name was 'Steve Austin.'

Danny Trujo once told me he was sore from doing his own stunts in a movie he was filming.

I once showed Cheech Marin where the end of the line because he cut in front of everybody else.

With all of the movies being filmed around town, stars are all over the place. Out of context, I don't necessarily recognize their faces.

Takeaways
  • celebrities at the airport
  • airline reality shows
  • reality show phobia

And with 'man' (see previous comment) I obviously completely ignored the fact that you're probably of the female gender, if Summer is your first name. Sorry, Saturday mornng....

Nice job, man. If I would encounter a celebrity, no matter how famous, I'd still act ike I didn't know them. I'd even act like they should be recognizing ME rather than the other way around. But I guess I'm just weird.....
