For wrestling fans, there is not much more fun than watching a WWE event, but playing WWE video games may top it. There have been dozens of WWE video games released, featuring the best superstars to ever set foot into the WWE and as consoles continue to improve, so do the WWE games that are released with them. Here is a look at the best WWE video games of all time.

Wrestlefest: While many arcade gamers were flocking to Mortal Kombat and PacMan, wrestling fans were crowded around Wrestlefest. This stand alone arcade game featured some of the 1990s top WWE superstars like Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, and Mr. Perfect. You could either choose two of the wrestlers and make your way through a tag team tournament, or go it alone for a Royal Rumble. The game actually featured a lot of varied wrestling moves and some animation within the graphics. You could battle outside of the ring, and at one stage during the tag team tournament, you are actually fighting inside of a steel cage. This is a great game for old school wrestling fans.

WWE Smackdown: When the Playstation was released, WWE released their first true 3-D games with WWE War Zone, and WWE Attitude. Those games were fun and innovative, but became very slow moving and caused matches to go on for almost twenty minutes sometimes. WWE then teamed up with THQ to release a fast paced and action packed Smackdown brand. This game was such a huge improvement on its predecessor and changed the way that wrestling video games were created.

Smackdown vs. Raw 2007: After several successful sequels to the Smackdown franchise, the Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 changed the way the game was played. Now wrestling moves used almost only the two analog sticks and matches became smoother and more unpredictable. You could also battle out into the crowd and the game features the very popular General Manager mode where you book your own roster and matches, while competing with the other brand at the same time.

Did You Know?
No Mercy had the option for players to create their own WWE title like the Ladder Match Champion. This was incorperated into many future wrestling games.
