Will wither and shed in the autumn.
Career moves that early on seem to be gold
Without notice careen to the bottom.
Friends may come and friends may go
With our movement in space and time.
Romantic attachments flame on and flame out
Again with the passage of time.
All life in this world will eventually die
And memories too soon start to fade.
Your good fortune soon may vanish away
When you thought you were "made in the shade."
The only thing you can depend upon
No matter what life may bring
Is the love and care from Jesus the Christ
Whose praises I've chosen to sing.
He watches over us night and day
And protects us along life's way.
He shows us the way that we should live
And answers us when we pray.
So don't put your trust in jewels and gold
And things that are gone tomorrow.
Not even relationships here on earth
For they too can lead you to sorrow.
Live your life in love and follow the LORD;
Digest His Word and share it with all.
Open your heart to Him daily, my friend,
And listen for His gentle call.
His burden is easy; His load is light.
It all is so easy to bear.
One day He is coming to gather His own
And I want you, my friend, to be there.
