I Have a Secret Valentine's Day Admirer----ME?

This morning I drove to work thinking mostly about how busy we were going to be and the order that I had to get done before my shift was over, just a typical work day. I completely forgot that it was Valentine's Day.

Some of you who have read about me know that I am single, never been married, I have no children, no brothers or sisters, and so, Valentine's Day, among other holidays, are not a big deal to me. Therefore, I had no big fantasy about some gorgeous guy coming in the store and giving me roses or anything. Don't get me wrong, there are dozens of gorgeous men in the store every day, but most of them are either with their wives, or way too young for me.

Anyway, my day had been a very busy one, I had managed to get my order done by just after the noon rush, and began to count down my register at around 2:30pm because my relief person was already at the store and I still had my outside work to get done, so I was ready to get off the register and out of the "public mode" for the day.

I had just gotten done with all my outside work and was getting ready to go home when someone complained that the Dr. Pepper in the fountain drink machine was empty, so I went back into the kitchen area to replace the empty Dr. Pepper box with a full one. When I came back into the deli area I noticed a small silver gift bag sitting on the counter with some pretty red paper in it and thought that one of the girls I work had gotten something special for Valentine's Day. I walked right by it, and proceeded to collect my belongings and get ready to go home.

My best friend and store manager walked over to the bag and ask what was in the bag. I told her I had no idea and she pulled up the little tag attached to the bag and said, "Oh, look, Jan, this is for you, from your secret admirer". I said, "Yeah, right, very funny, Leah" and then, I too saw the tag, which indeed, did say, "To Jan, from your secret admirer". Well, let me tell you, friends, it has been my experience that if I get a present from someone I don't know, I am very cautious about just pulling it out of the bag for all to see until I examine the contents for myself first. I am very glad that I did that with this "gift" as well.
