The body, mind and intellect constitute the human system, of course illumined by the consciousness. If the mind is not behind the various sense organs, the body has no meaningful function. Thus eyes look outside but the impressions are not registered unless the mind is attached to it. So is the case with all other organs. The mind is a subtle faculty and has vast potential. The mind has a great and important role in developing the body. There is interrelationship between the functioning of the mind and the body. Condition of one affects the other.

Mind is nothing but the flow of thoughts. The flow is perennial in the normal human being and various types of thoughts occur constantly during the waking state. These thoughts prompt us to act. They make us restless. The mind travels faster than any known phenomenon including light. At the same time it is a double-edged weapon. It can be used for nobler thoughts and acts. It can also be used for doing harm. So we are urged to control it. It is like conserving energy by building a dam and creating a reservoir. The tremendous energy released is used for socially beneficial uses. Similarly the energy conserved by controlling the mind can be used for achieving great purposes to benefit oneself and humanity.

The thought flow if unchecked or ignored can result in good or bad actions depending on the attitude of the individual. The ancient philosophy always aims at the welfare of humanity. It proclaims," May there be happiness to all, May there be peace to all, and Let noble thoughts come to us from every side". So the quality of thoughts originating from the mind is sought to be noble and lofty.

Vast energy tapped from the reservoir of the mind is seen as great creations in the world. Huge structures and machines are all the products of such utilisation of properly directed energy. It is like a mirror which serves well if the dirt and dust on it are removed.
