Planning Your Big Easter Dinner

As the Easter holiday approaches so does the task of planning for the big Easter dinner. Easter is one of the holidays when families want to gather together and spend time with one another. It is a time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and to remember what price He paid for us.When planning the Easter holiday menu it is a must that you consider what can be prepared ahead of time so that it doesn't interfere with other events that are planned for Easter Sunday. You will want to plan on the type of beverages that you will serve and do those ahead also.
Below is an example of a menu.
Baked Ham with Pineapple Glaze
Mashed Pototoes
Glazed Baby Carrots
Spinach Salad
Deviled Eggs
Potato Bread Rolls
Fresh Apple Cobbler topped with Ice Cream or Whipped Topping
The ham is easily cooked without the need for you to be present during the cooking phase. The potatoes can be peeled and quartered, placed in a pan of cold water and set aside until your ready to cook them. If you have a good crock-pot or slow cooker potatoes can be cooking while you are away. Deviled eggs can be prepared the day before and kept in the refrigerator. The potato bread can be made the day before and placed in the refrigerator overnight. Easter morning the bread can be made into rolls, covered with a towel and placed in a warm area to raise while you're away for a few hours. When you remove the ham from the oven you can place the rolls in the oven to bake. Once the rolls are done you can place the cobbler in to bake. The spinach salad can be prepared early Easter morning and covered tightly with saran wrap and placed in the refrigerator.
You don't want to forget the table. Plan on your table setting and go ahead and utilize the free time, the day before, to place the table cloth, plates, silver, napkins, glasses, etc. on the table so that you can make certain this is done according to your desires. In my home we do things buffet style because I have a very large family. The plates, silver and napkins are placed close to the makeshift buffet and the glasses along with the beverages are placed in an area away from the food.
