Fun Factory is the Best Arcade in Central Oahu in Hawaii

As a kid growing up in a small town, I was never really able to get to the bigger arcades. If I wanted to play an arcade game, the best I could do was tag along with my mom to the grocery store and play Street Fighter or Mortal Combat while she shopped.

As a parent now, I find myself taking my son to the places I never was really able go to growing up. The best arcade for kids, I have found, is in central Oahu at a place called Fun Factory in Mililani Town.

The arcade has anything and everything imaginable for people of any age. At first I thought it might be just for the kids, but I found that there were many games geared towards adults like a hoop it up basketball game.

Instead of tokens like I remembered as a kid, you now get a gaming card that you can "recharge" at any time. I feel this makes it easier than the old way, where there was no way to prove to the attendant that the game ate your tokens. They can see electronically if there is a problem and can then just credit your card with more credits. Every time you play a game you just swipe your card as you would a credit card at the store.

There are so much for the kids to play like skeeball, car racing simulation games, off road motorbike simulation games and games that mimic street dancing. There are also games that make you feel like you can actually play a musical instrument such as a drumming simulation game as if you were a drummer in a band or a guitar mimic as if you were playing electric guitar.

Of course there are the old school classics like air hockey, one of my favorites or the old carnival games like the ones where you roll the ball into holes to score points. It may not be as high tech as some of the others, but a throw back to my younger days makes me feel better about going there.

Once you accumulate a certain amount of points for playing each game you can redeem them for prizes at the counter that look much better than the ones I saw growing up. Kids can now get things like remote control cars or even video games.
