Single Parent Poem
You came into my life one day
If I could have seen the outcome I would have stayed away
so much has happened in the last passing years
I must admit that you became my biggest fears.
Many people seen instantly what you were
But to me it all cam as a blur
People warned me that I needed to stay away
I just could not listen I seen something in you that day
While your getting ahead, I am struggling from behind.
And you, you don't know what it's like to hear a baby cry
To change a diaper you never have
You do no know his likes and his fears
your never around so these things to you are not clear
potty training and late night feeding
doctor trips and bottle weaning
You'll never know the joy and the pains
Never be around for his sunshine and rain
The very first words and the very first steps
To watch him sleep at night in such a peaceful rest
School will start and I will take him by the hand
Uncharted terrority you will not discover this land
Sporting events and than the prom
You won't be there but he'll have mom
And than the joy of graduation day
You won;t be there, you'll stay away
What you look at as a burden is my greatest gift
One day he'll look back and realize all this
