Jumper is a science fiction movie that was directed by the same guy who helmed The Bourne Identity and Mr. and Mrs. Smith: Doug Liman. The screenplay lists three names with credits, and it feels like one of those Hollywood movies that has too many writers for its own good; these sorts of movies always have "seams" in them where the connectivity between writers working separately always feels slightly "off." However, that doesn't mean to imply that there is too much going on in the film, just the opposite: this is a light comic book action flick without too much more explanation needed.

Hayden "Darth Vadar" Christensen tackles the lead role for the film, with Rachel Bilson doing her pretty girl thing as the romantic interest. Samuel Jackson is the bad guy sporting the GI Joe character like hair-do, Jamie Bell becomes a buddy for the lead, and you'll probably recognize people such as Michael Rooker, Diane Lane, and Kristen Stewart in small roles. The acting is fine for the type of movie it is; don't expect Hamlet. Christensen is comparable to perhaps some of the earlier performances put in by the "strains to show emotion" Keanu Reeves; sometimes it's cool, sometimes a bit: meh. I think they should have utilized Jamie Bell's character a little more with witty lines.

I have to see this one because my husband loves these kinds of movies. But thanks for the heads up.

Though neither Bilson nor Christensen interest me too much, Im gonna have to check this one out. Rented, of course.

I will see this. Althought a "retarded twist" can ruin a movie for me. As always, love your reviews.

I am definately not going to see this one in theaters. I will probably feel cheated. I do like Samuel L. Jackson so I will be one of the first to rent it. Thanks for the review.
