The Ab Lounge: Opinion of a Novice Exerciser
AB Lounge excerscise equipment review:For over two years I went through a variety of different fitness crazes. In an effort to lose weight and get in shape I joined various women’s only gyms, tried Pilate’s, Yoga, and any other form of low impact exercise that promised rapid
weight loss and toning. While everything I tried worked for a few days, or even weeks, I quickly got board with getting up to go to the gym three times a week, or pulling out my mat for 30 minutes of Pilate’s. As a young wife and mother time was important to me and it was hard to convince myself that the drive to the gym (especially with current gas prices) would be worth it. I would tell myself ‘I will go tomorrow’ then a week would fly by with no visit to the gym and my promise to myself that I would exercise at home if I didn’t go to the gym was quickly forgotten. When I overheard a coworker raving about the new Ab Lounge I decided to review this fitness equipment. The design of the Ab Lounge seemed to be fairly simple and I could see how using it could possible lead to rapid weight loss. I began noticing a few late night commercials advertising the then new Ab Lounge and I seriously considered purchasing the machine for myself. I went to the official site for the Ab Lounge (http://www.fitnessquest.com) and looked into the pricing. At first glance the total price for the Ab Lounge was $164.80, which, for a middle class working woman, is a lot of money to spend especially considering my previous failed fitness investments. I was relieved to see that a payment plan option was available where my initial payment would be $14.95 with shipping costs of $19.95 and future monthly payments $49.95. To me that was more acceptable than paying the $164.80 but when I spoke to my husband about it he had a better suggestion. Purchase it for over $60.00 cheaper at the local Wal-Mart. To my amazement the Ab Lounge was only $99.00 and since I would be buying it and bringing it home there would be no shipping or handling costs. I decided to purchase the Ab Lounge at Wal-Mart especially considering I was eager to use the machine and couldn’t imagine waiting the 3-6 weeks for Fitness Quest to deliver the Ab Lounge to my home. After I purchased the machine my first problem was assembling the machine. For some reason I assumed the Ab Lounge would be already assembled and ready to use right out of the box. That was very far from the truth. The Ab Lounge came out of the box in pieces with assembly instructions that were much to complicated for me. It took a week of cursing and confusion to assemble the Ab Lounge even with the help of my husband. Once constructed the Ab Lounge quickly became worth the wait. I placed it in my bedroom since it looks like a chair it does not look so out of place. When I felt like exercising I would just sit in the chair and work out while listening to music or watching television and I found I was getting much more of a work out than I did doing mat exercises or plain crunches. The first few days I was very sore but after awhile I became better conditioned and had a very noticeable weight and inch loss in the first three weeks. I went from a size 18 to a size 13 in barely two months and am now much more toned than I have ever been. I am extremely pleased with myself and now have lost even more weight and inches, which is nice. I no longer have to dread shopping for clothes and truly recommend the Ab Lounge to anyone who wants to lose inches with a piece of work out equipment that really works.
