Okay! Anybody that knows me - knows that I am a die-hard Tarheel fan! However, lately, hearing of Kay Yow's fight with breast cancer and all of her efforts to raise money for research, she's really inspired me! Also, somewhere along the line she is family. My Mom's side are all Yow's. Anyhoo. I have been wearing a pink breast cancer bracelet, probably for about a year now, it has "For Kay" engraved on the inside. (It's like the Livestrong bracelets) When Valerie got them for me, she got 3. I always said that if I ever met Kay I would give her one. Well, the chance finally came this past Sunday at Hoops for Hope!! What an incredible game it was, and it was absolutely amazing to me to be in the presence of such a legend. The State players' all came out in pink jerseys and instead of their names being on the back, they all said, "Yow". When Kay came out you feel the respect, and the admiration for her, instantly. I was definitely in awe! The girls' played an incredible game! At half-time breast cancer survivor's came out onto the court, and the way they were standing, they made the breast cancer ribbon on the court! Incredible! The girls' really pulled away in the 2nd half. We won 60-41!! Kay said a little speech and thanked us for all of our support.
