The Bitter Atonement of the Catholic Church

There are children spinning away in a tentative madness,

many never escape the corridors of damaged dreams.

There is no answer or resolve for the horror that

beckons every dream.

A child innocence becomes that of silent hate

and unexpected fear-dreams that haunt them

in their waking moments and giving up the
 ghost.

The Church and state have never mended

the wounds of the frowning scornful Satan

breathing heavily in the face of everything pure.

Whence a man is denied his natural order

how can he maintain a civil order?

Time is drawing near

for the men dressed in the shadows

of the night-to become a perception of failure

and consistent denial.

When night falls, the perception of truth is denied

to the child whom has seen the fire down below.

There is no atonement for the recalled process

of elimination-where the rape of innocence has become

an embarrassment of false teaching,

and Satan's betrayed hunger

is his wrath upon the garden of man's delight.

And in his wrath he will devour the weak at spirit

and enrapture the innocent

in a indecent proposal of our mortality

where death has become our maiden name.

(and who are never mentioned) again, the poem is well-written and thought provoking. No one should have to suffer like that.

This poem is well-written. I believe that priests or religious who are guilty of these crimes, should be defrocked and put into prison...and more needs to be done to help the victims who have been treated so cruelly -with that said- to blame the entire Catholic Church for the actions of a few has become almost a sport...to suggest that priestly celebacy is to blame for the abuse of children is not only ridiculous-it is wrong. Most sex offenders are those who are not celebate. (A pedophile is a pedophile, no matter if they are wearing a collar, a badge, or a shirt with their name on it) Unfortunately, perverts who have infiltrated the Church, have managed to tarnish the image of the Church and feed the bigots who already had their own hateful opinions...Yes, I would love to have all abusive members of the clergy thrown out, but we also must stop demonizing a faith because of the actions of a few. The majority of priests and religious who serve God with all their hearts (and who h
