This is one long editorial but you won't be disappointed when you get to the end, I promise.

One year ago three things happened that -seriously- changed the world: Tom Cruise jumped on the couch at Oprah's, in happiness, declaring his love for Katie. He made some comments about a well known actress for promoting dangerous mind altering psychotic drugs in her book. And he exposed publicly the covert multi-billion dollar fraud that psychiatrists and the pharmaceuticals have built in a controversial TV interview.

Ever since, the media and the blogs have been filled with lies, lies and more lies about Tom and his very words have been twisted once and again to convey things he never said. I want to illustrate how insane this whole thing has become:

Lie #1 - His romance with Katie had just been made up in order to promote his movie War of the Worlds. This one needs no comment at all. As if he, the biggest star in the world, needed that.

Lie #2 - Tom and Katie are splitting. This actually keeps being published once and again, so it has been a recurrent lie.

Lie #3 - Katie wasn't really pregnant but she was faking it all.

Lie #4 - Katie was not going to be allowed to make any noise at all at the delivery. The true silent birth is about everybody around the mother keeping as quiet as possible, so that the birth can take place in a quiet, calm environment. It's that simple. All the rest were just more invented lies.

Lie #5 - He was going to eat placenta. He made a joke that was really funny on a TV interview about eating placenta and the day after the media all over the world were reporting that he was seriously going to eat placenta when it was very clearly a joke he made on a TV interview. It's very obvious here that somebody intendedly twisted what really happened and spread it around through one of those agencies that supply news to the media internationally. The intention is also very obvious. They wanted to make Tom look like a a fool. They wanted to create the perception that he is nuts. Who? Why? We will get to that later.

I don't care much about celebrity trials, tibulations, and "news." But I do appreciate the fact that, for a moment, Tom Cruise spotlighted America's growing "take a pill for everything" mentality. Clearly, some medications are vital and lifesaving. But I believe we too easily drug our children and ourselves, clouding perception, creativity, and stunting possibility. And I agree with you, the drug manufacturers have plenty of money, drugs and power with which to reduce most of us, including Tom Cruise, to mindless gnats. Thank you for the read.

Hey, there's a very simple way to end the 'arguments' for and against psychotropic mind altering drugs. Check out www.drugs.com and type in any psych drug and then read the 'contraindications or side effects'. If you honestly think it's worth taking a drug and exposing yourself to the side effects then 'drug on' fools, 'drug on'!

When I am sick, I go to the doctor. When I need my car fixed I got to a mechanic. When I go to Tom Cruise, I want him to entertain me and shut the hell up. I don't go looking for an actor who is part of a cult that believes that aliens created mankind to give me advice on mental illness.

Hey, maybe the black pr surrounding Tom Cruise was caused by publicists. People enjoy that kind of stuff, it gives Tom more attention. I'm all for conspiracy theories, but even I won't agree that the black pr of Tom Cruise was made up by drug companies. That's just ridiculous. Even if Tom cost them 20% of their profits, they still have around 60 billion dollars. Unless I did the math wrong. My point is that if you take 20% off of a few billion, you still have a few billion left. There is absolutely no reason why they would try to make Tom Cruise look bad other than revenge, and Billion dollar companies have no time for that.

mental illness has been "studied" by those who profit from mental illness, such as, pharmaceutical companies. drug companies currently profit in the hundreds of billions of dollars by duping the public into believing they are sick and these drugs will make them well. the "science" behind mental illness does not exist, as evidenced by the fact that there are no lab tests done to assess mental illness as there are for physical illness, and there is no way to test for the "chemical imbalance" pysch drugs claim to correct. the diagnosis is made based on the opinion of someone with a vested interest in diagnosing mental illness and prescribing "medication" to "correct" their problem. to compare these meds, and i use that term loosely, to cocaine is simply factual. they exist in the same class of controlled substances, schedule II: also home to amphetamine and fast-acting barbituates. not exactly the stuff of saving lives.

there are no tests for mental illness, which is the main part of the problem. psychiatry is unscientific. psychiatric drugs are not naturally found in the body. they are not something normal bodies require to function. they are something that can produce an artificial effect on the body, just like cocaine, speed, heroin, and any other drug.

Hi Debra, you are right. Not everyone needs the meds. But a lot do. And for those people the meds save not only lifes but also families. How can you be against that.

Tom Cruise has done the public a service by telling us like it is when it comes to psychotropic drugs. There are many natural alternatives to many of the symptoms people complain about and get prescribed drugs for.
