This is Your Life

In a blink of an eye, your life stands before you. The past is crystal clear. The future remains dark. The present is colorblind. This is your life before you, and every time you blink, it seems to float further and further away. Do you close your eyes and no longer worry about where you will go from here, or do you stare at this life before you in hopes of finding a way to reach it again?

What have I done with this life? It took me a long time to get to here, and I have not left here for the longest time. Why am I standing still? Why waste time when it is not eternal? I seem to get lost to the past, and if I stay too long within its sometimes cold embrace, I'll lose another step to my future. I'll stand still, and I've been standing for far too long. So, where do I go from here, and what do I do with my life?

It's never easy, and it never will be. Nobody can tell you how to live your life. They can offer words, advice, support, and whatever else they pull from themselves, but they are not you. They are not living your life. You are, and they can't tell you where to go from here.

This is life. A million roads merge into a million more, and every road has a barricade of some kind. Some of us drive blind, going in circles. Some drive straight no matter what lies before them. Few of us have not even turned on the ignition, and my car is riding on fumes. I've been driving this street so many times that I know its every curve and bump, but it this street that I wish to drive no more.

Time reminds me of a prism. The lights that shine through the crystal are the past and future meeting, but the present remains clear.

Great article! I particularly like the thought that the present is colorblind. I'm going to think about that for awhile.
