ABC Announces New Contestants for Dancing with the Stars

The new season of Dancing with the Stars is set to begin on March 17 with twelve celebrities, including sports champions, award-winning actors, nationally-syndicated radio personalities, successful character actors, an R&B singer and... Steve Guttenberg.

This impressive list of six men and six women was announced by past contestants Kenny Mayne, Jerry Rice and Lisa Rinna during the season finale of Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann, according to the ABC website. A complete list can be found at the end of this article. Announced in four separate segments throughout Dance War, Kenny, Jerry and Lisa joked and poked fun at the various celebrities. Although, all twelve contestants are considered celebrities, some are more compelling and bring interesting storylines to the show than others.

The Good Ones

Marlee Matlin is one of the most interesting celebrities on the show this year. The only deaf actress to win an Academy Award, Matlin is a familiar face and will undoubtedly continue to be a role model for hearing-impaired viewers. Penn Jillette, known for Las Vegas magic shows and his outspoken personality, will be an exciting presence on this season as he has been a successful showman for many years. Kristi Yamaguchi will likely be a crowd favorite as an Olympic gold medal winner in figure skating. Her experience performing to music will give her an advantage over her competitors.
