2008's Total Lunar Eclipse
Expect to See a Good Show
Embed:
The 2008 February 20/21 lunar eclipse will appear when the Earth, sun and moon are lined up with one another, the Earth being sandwiched in the middle. Depending on the weather it will be quiet a sight, the full moon will be putting off such an astounding color. The vibrant red color is caused by the Earth's atmosphere blocking off most of the sun's blue light and the Earth casting its shadow over the moon. During this total lunar eclipse absolutely no direct sunlight will hit the moon, however, the Earth's atmosphere reflects some sunlight onto it. This doesn't cause the moon to become invisible, but a reddish or dull orange color, depending the region.
The eclipse will last for almost an hour and shall be quiet a sight. From almost any location this total lunar eclipse is said to be visible.
So enjoy this 2008 total lunar eclipse because the next eclipse will not be visible again in the United States until December 2010.
