What's Wrong with Religion?

One Woman's View

I am by no means a theologian, but with everything going on in the world today I can't help but stop and wonder where it all went wrong. I am an average American woman, a married, middle-class, working mom and a Christian. I study the bible because it helps
me and I research all religions because I am curious about the nature and pattern of things. Do I know what's wrong with religion? Absolutely not - but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that as a species, we have the habit of repeating our mistakes, and as far apart as some religions hold themselves to be, they are no exception to this rule.

NOBODY KNOWS THE NAME OF THE CREATOR
Forgive me in advance for only focusing on organized religion. I fully realize that the world's earliest humans were spirituality led before they could even utter the name of their deity. I believe this to be the earliest mistake in religion, trying to give a name to something that is beyond comprehension. Even today, religions still argue over the name of the Creator. It's a he, it's a she, it's not an it, his name is God but don't spell it out, He is God, but not a god, his name is Allah, his name is Jehovah, speak his name often, don't speak his name, have others speak to him for you. I am already confused trying to write this all out, so why is it so surprising that the majority of the world has simply given up trying to understand?

NOBODY HAS OWNERSHIP OVER ANY CREATION
So here's my theory, take it for what it's worth. I believe that all things in this world were created by an awesome supreme being. I personally, don't really care what anyone else calls this being; all I know is that through-out the history of mankind people have felt the knowledge of this truth in their hearts. I figure it only took one couple looking at their newborn child to say "how in the world did we create this without messing it up?" I mean, let's face it; even with the advances in today's technology, the majority of us still have trouble making gravy. Okay, so maybe it's just me, but you get the point.

Woman, you are well on your way into the truth. Your thought captures the essence of people's basic mistake through time, "The problem with leaders is that sometimes they become so consumed in leading that they forget that they were once followers." When man or woman forgets their ability to be wrong and power and control cloud the heart and mind we lose our Spirit. That why religions, cultures and corporations go down. We forget or deny the light or spirit God writes in our hearts. People can claim no faith that is their choice. But that moral code is written in all of our hearts and when it is covered or destroyed history shows the often tragic results. Bless you sister. We have discovered the Creator's spark - love.
