Broken Man

Walking with my head hangin' low
A friend just turned to foe
What happened? I don't even know
But now I've got nowhere to go
Am I a man or merely a machine?
When did it become such a travesty to dream?
And how did I become a one-man team?
The switch was once turned on
But I blinked and now it's all gone
It's all wrong
That's why I'm writing this song
A pen and a pad are my only friends
It's a game over, and I'm at the end
There's nothing I could even mend
My God, some help... when you gonna send?
I feel like a loner
This brokenness is mine; I am its owner
If I'm ink, I need more toner
My cup no longer runneth over
What can I do?
Can I redo?

Without the hand

Who is this broken man?

So I'm still walking
And I'm still talking
Guess I'm the sheep Satan's still stalking
At my door, somebody's knocking
Should I open the door?
And see what the enemy has in store?
Could he possibly do any more?
I can't keep fighting this war
Gunshots fly all around me
The waters rise and try to drown me
Once again my enemies surround me
Instantly, they begin
Toward me they close in
There's too many - I can't win
I say a prayer one last time
I write down this one final rhyme
But then came an intervention by the divine
It was like a miraculous sign!
One-by-one my enemies disappear
And along with them, went my fear
Though I couldn't see, God was always near
I guess that's why I'm still here
