Sylvester Stallone, body builder and health freak was ironically about 30-40 lbs. overweight to play this part. Rambo's first scene of his face looks like he has been stung by a bee and "his whole face has swelled up" then I began to eventually realize overlooking his entire body, he's just too fat for this part! The character John Rambo has always amazed viewers around the world with this incredible "Muscle Man" body always wearing a tank top and how he could move around so fast with incredible speed and accuracy. In Rambo 4 he NEVER takes off his shirt and exposes any of his muscles? At one part of the movie, it looked like he had a "Beer Gut." He looked absolutely dirty and "Disgusting". Like a bum off the street.

At times during the movie, it actually looked like he was moving in slow motion, or "getting ready to fall asleep" as an aging grandfather using about 4 bottles of black hair dye on his long wavy hair, because it was so black and un-natural looking for a 61 year old man playing this part. He could of at least put some grey in it? In the past Rambo movies, he was always moving so fast such as running, jumping, fast fighting, etc. which he played nearly all these stunts himself. Very little dialouge, but incredible action.

This movie was a great disappointment for me and Sylvester Stallone fans all around the world simply because he had let his body get in such bad shape before making this film. (Even Kevin Costner got into Great shape before making his over priced film "Waterworld" and even California Arnold looks great for his age).

Ironically, Sylvester Stallone has always been a body builder and health freak whom has taught other movie stars how to get in physical shape before making a film that requires a beautiful physic like John Travolta in "Staying Alive" which Sly helped him with and Lord knows how many other stars that he worked with as physical trainer? Maybe Stallone should have taken his own advice before making this "Rambo 4?"

I actually gasped at how idiotic this editorial piece was. Stallone gained bulk muscle weight to fit the part of a man who has been living in seclusion for a long time, lifting heavy items and not doing much more exercise than that. Adding on top of the fact that the writer of this review was comparing Stallone of 60 years of age to Stallone of 39 years of age is ridiculous. Stallone should be commended for striving for realism in this film, something that many, Many film makers have been lacking for the past decade (or more). This was the best made "Rambo" film, and the most politically relevant in today's global climate. Also, try to find any other man over the age of 60 who looks as great as Stallone did. This is a horrible piece of writing and a senseless critique.

What an idiot writer! Rambo did not look fat! This movie is the best and most real Rambo yet.

Sly was perfect! I dont know anybody of his age with that physical! Even he hadn´t taken off his shirt, we could see that he is NOT fat at all... Despite of being a fan, let´s face the reality... he is in a great shape! P.S. he was fat in the movie `Copland`...

First of all, I watched this movie today and thought he looked HUGE! Muscular, huge. Fat my ass, in the other Rambo movies he was very lean which was good, but older men aren't supposed to look that lean. He wasn't fat in this movie, he just wasn't lean. DO you want to see fat? Google it. Had he lost 30-40 lbs he'd have been at LEAST as lean as he was in Rambo 3. His lack of ability/speed comes not just from the added lbs. but also from old age. "because he had let his body get in such bad shape before making this film." WTF??? To me he looks bigger than he has in any other film I've ever seen of his. It looks like he still lifts weight everyday. Just less cardiovascular stuff and quite frankly, while the lack of leanness did perhaps take a toll on some of the action sequences, it simply wouldn't make sense for 60-year-old Rambo, now retired, to be so lean. I don't wish to be rude, but quite frankly, your "points" are terrible. There's no other way to put it. Try to fine 5 60+ ye

Sly is a great actor, but he hasn't looked movie star gorgeous for quite some time. It appears that even the stars suffer from the batlle of the bulge.
