It has been nearly five years since Scott Weiland has played with his original band, Stone Temple Pilots, but things are looking good for an STP reunion.

For the last several years, Weiland has been recording and touring with Velvet Revolver, a band made up mostly of ex-Guns 'n Roses members. But those days seem to be behind him. According to the official website for the band, STP will headline the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, OH on May 17. Fans hope that this will be the first of many dates, and possibly even a new album.

But fans may have to wait. Weiland recently checked himself into rehab, and this is certainly not the first time Weiland has been in a difficult situation.

Scott Weiland's struggles with alcohol and drugs were a big reason the band broke up back in 2003. Weiland has been in out of jail and rehab throughout his career, although recent reports claim that he was healthy. When Velvet Revolver first formed in 2004, a spokesperson for the band claimed that every one was clean now, including Slash and the other former members of Guns 'n Roses, a band notoriously known for drug usage and rock 'n roll lifestyle.

Weiland recently had reported that he planned to do a reunion with STP, but this news was not made official until February 12th when the concert announcement was made. Reports from Slash have indicated that this is just a short term event, that Velvet Revolver plans to tour and record more albums in the future. No one from STP's camp has yet provided any word on how extensive the tour will be or how long the reunion will last, but fans are extremely hopeful.
The last time STP toured together, they were the supporting act for Aerosmith on a short amphitheater tour. The last song they recorded together was "All in the Suit That You Wear", a song that made its first appearance on the 2003 release "Thank You", STP's greatest hits album.
