The Wearever Premium Saute Pan is an average skillet that can be used as an everyday pan for sauteing, browning meat, frying fish and even for occasional stir-fry. This is a basic saute pan that serves the purpose and exactly does what it claims. I bought this to replace my previous expensive Cuisinart pan that showed signs of aging in just two years. I was so disgusted with the Cuisinart that it no longer made any sense to buy costly saute pans and get cheated. So this time I bought the inexpensive Wearever Saute pan for just $25. I am glad that this comes at less than one third of the Cuisinart and by far shows a competent performance. Even if the coating wears off after a year it is not a problem as the replacement is affordable.

The exterior of the saute pan is made of high quality hard anodized material just like the Al Clad pans. It is the hard anodized construction that facilitates the pan to conduct heat uniformly and the thick walled pan does not develop any hot spots. The food gets cooked evenly and comes out perfectly with neither under or over cooked. The interior of the skillet is coated with non stick material and this seems to be durable. The edges are neither too deep nor shallow and hence can be used to thicken soup and fry omelet alike.

One thing that I liked about the Wearever is that when I used it for the first time it did not release any plastic smelling fumes the way Cuisinart did. To be on safer side I never put it in dishwasher and clean it with mild soap and luke warm water. Then metal scrubbers are a strict no and I go for silicone multipurpose spatulas so that it is not harsh on the coating. I find that this requires little amount of greasing only and there is no need of frequent seasoning. The food gets released easily without sticking to the base or getting charred.
