Contemporary vessel sinks are a huge design trend in bathrooms. Part of the reason we are all so interest in modern or contemporary vessel sinks is the newness and unique quality to them.

Unfortunately as the market is flooded with cookie cutter products, the novelty can wear off. Here are some ideas for creating one of a kind contemporary vessels sinks for the bathroom!

Unique Contemporary Vessel Sinks #1: Glass Mixing Bowl

At my local Bed Bath and Beyond, Pottery Barn, and William Sonoma I always come across the most elegant clear glass bowls! They are absolutely beautiful and have such clean lines.

You can use these clear glass bowls to make yoru own one of a kind modern vessel sink. Use a ceramic drill bit to drill the hole in the bottom of the bowl. It is a good idea to use masking tape where you will be drilling to help prevent cracking.

I would also recommend protective eye gear in case any glass breaks off.

Now, the drain cover will cover the rough edges on the bowl, but one thing you will want to make sure of is that you have a neat hole in the top of the counter. You will be able to see through the bottom of this vessel sink!

Unique Contemporary Vessel Sinks #2: Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl

Ok, love the hip and modern look of industrial stainless steel? You can use this in your bathroom by simply drilling a hole it the bottom of a large sized stainless still mixing bowl.

Honestly, this is one of those cuts I would hire a professional to do. Car repair shops would be a perfect source for this. Be prepared with the exact dimensions you need your bowl to be cut and you are half way there!

I love this look and there are so many options for stainless steel mixing bowls. Fr a super large vessel sink check out restaurant supply stores!

Unique Contemporary Vessel Sinks #3: Square Glass Vase

If you want a modern vessel sink, but want it to rectangular or square, then check out the local florist shop. Look for large low vases in rectangle or square forms. They come in all sizes! I also find these at my local craft store, art supply store, and sometimes even at Wal Mart.
