The Woman
Vicki Iseman is a DC lobbyist who works for the firm Alcalde & Faye. As often stereo-typed in the movies, she is blonde, attractive and much younger (by 30 years) than McCain. She actually looks like a less sophisticated and less polished version of the senator's wife.
Iseman is no dummy. She is a graduate from Indiana University and represents corporate and public clients on government contracting and regulatory reform. She's also worked on communication bills in the past.
The Affair
The details of the alleged affair are broad now. Two prior aides for Senator John McCain began talks with the New York Times in January. To be fair, it needs to be divulged that they are disillusioned, now, with their former boss. They describe the incident as one in which McCain and Iseman were seen too many times together. At the office. During fund-raisers. On his private jet. Their behavior looked inappropriate and started at a horrible time - during McCain's first run for the presidency.
Yes! The alleged affair occurred 8 years ago during McCain's first run for presidency. The two were getting so close that McCain's camp intervened in order to save the senator from himself.
The Intervention
Fearful of a damaging scandal, McCain's camp worked together to end his relationship with Vicki Iseman. They denied her access to him and spoke with both of them about their relationship. Apparently, this strategy worked and ended the romance. It also kept an embarrassing scandal from coming to light for years.
The Denial
To date, Republican John McCain, as well as Vicki Iseman, deny the allegations of a romance. They are accusing the New York Times of creating a story to manipulate votes in favor of Democrats. Some believe this may be true since details of exact times and places were not a part of it. However, some people believe there is more to come.
Some members of the media believe that the New York Times has more information about the affair and is fanning the flames before a huge fire erupts. It's a thought that has to be scary for Republicans and especially McCain.
