This root is one of the most sought-after in the world. It has many different uses, such as traditional uses and in modern science. But many people are not aware that there are different types of ginseng.

While we are in the ginseng talk, most people do not know that ginseng is an English word meaning "man root." "Man root" is the term used in describing the shape of a man's legs, which had a fork shape. If anyone sees the word Panax next to ginseng, it is a Greek word for "all-heal," because of its wide usage in Chinese medicine.

Let's get to the point: What is ginseng? Ginseng is a root that are generally taken by mouth as aphrodisiacs, stimulants, sexual dysfunction, and for Type II diabetes treatment. This is just the traditional usage. It comes in a dried formulation, either in the formation of a whole root or a sliced root. It is also available as a leaf. Did you know that ginseng is an ingredient in many energy drinks? Well, it is generally in foods that are functional or in a tea form. In addition to food, ginseng is also available in the preparation of cosmetics with almost no huge impact. To many herbalists, this is looked at as being very wasteful. I can believe that!

Ginseng is an adaptogen which boosts up the resistance of the body to stress. It can also be supported in terms of its anti-carcinogenic and anti-oxidant properties. In many cases, these animal experimentations have not determined whether the longevity and health were boosted in terms of stress. The results were negative.

As was mentioned earlier, there are different types of ginseng. Here are the difference between American and Asian ginseng:

American ginseng: In the case of Traditional Chinese medicine, American ginseng is claimed to give off the energy of Yin, which cleans the massive amount of Yang in the body, as a result giving the body a calm feeling. The American ginseng is sliced and just a few slices are cooked in very low heat in hot water for decoration making. According to a double-blinded study, this ginseng shows the reduction of several flu cases with senior citizens compared with a placebo.
