I am currently expecting my second child. Although this pregnancy has been different from my first pregnancy, it is good the second time around already knowing what to expect and do.

Recently I was talking to a friend of mine who is pregnant with her first child, and due only a week before I am. She was talking about some problems that she'd been having, and then she turned to me and asked, "How come no one told me about these things before I got pregnant?"

I thought about her question. So, here are five things that no one tells you about being pregnant. (These are in random order.)

1. Morning sickness does not just affect you in the morning, and does not just mean that you will throw up sometimes. In fact, it can vary from nothing at all or just not wanting certain foods to constant nausea. In my case, it often meant feeling hungry, but feeling queasy when I actually looked at (or even thought about) food. Normally it will get better after the first trimester, but you may find yourself not wanting certain foods throughout your pregnancy-even foods that you normally like.

2. Being pregnant will effect your sex-life. However, contrary to popular belief, this is not always a bad thing. Increased hormone levels can actually mean that your libido increases, and that combined with increased blood-flow means that you might enjoy it more too. Plus, no matter how fat you may feel, most men find pregnant women very attractive.

3. Pregnancy affects all of your body, including things you wouldn't expect. Your teeth and gums are affected by pregnancy hormones. You may find that your gums bleed more easily, and that your teeth may seem yellower. It is important to maintain good oral hygiene. In the UK, women receive free dental care during pregnancy and until their child's first birthday.
