Too many of our leaders and media do not grasp this threat properly. Indeed, many of our newest representatives cannot even correctly name and identify the star players or their orientation. We face a very real and imminent threat from Islamic terrorism within our borders.

BACKGROUND: For eight years I served as an intelligence officer, focusing my efforts in the European, Middle Eastern and Southwest Asian theaters. My work involved counter-espionage, -sabotage, -terrorism investigations and operations, together with other taskings for the Department of Defense. What follows is based on my years of personal experience and a study of the basic tenets of Islam as expressed in their four "holiest books," to include the Kuran.

In the 1970s and 1980s terrorism was primarily politically based. What we observed during the 1980s was a gradual change in nature to religion-motivated terrorism. This "breed" was completely independent of international boundaries and far more difficult to combat. Clearly the most virulent and challenging for government leaders and the media to understand is the most prevalent of all, the terrorism born of devout Islamic fundamentalism.

Only those on the fringe and recent converts embrace the mistaken notion that Islam is a peaceful religion of community and coexistence. The truth goes all the way back to Mohammad and his original followers when they were run out of Mecca to Medina. Prior to that, his teachings indeed were peaceful in nature. At the time he lacked any military strength. In Mecca they became radicalized. From then on Mohammad spread Islam with the point of the sword and used his "revelations" to justify his actions.

Keep in mind, the "holy" books of Islam contain the principle of nasikh, that the most recent proclamations supersede all previous. Everything depends upon how the terms are defined and by whom. The usual practice is to cite the earlier writings to emphasize the alleged peaceful nature of Islam. Indeed, this is about as far as the majority of followers get into their studies.

Takeaways
  • Radical fundamentalist Islam is a growing threat to the United States.
  • We must all clearly understand the true nature of Islamic teachings.
  • Profiling is a valid practice in this instance that must be encouraged.
Did You Know?
A careful study of the Kuran and other Islamist writings reveals a religion that is dangerously violent in nature.

The difference between Islamic jihadists and Christian end-timers is merely semantical. The dangerous part is that the war machine of the current crop of Crusaders is far more capable of widespread destruction..

The project, headed by David Yerushalmi, a lawyer and expert on sharia law, finished collecting data from the first cohort of 102 mosques and schools. Though not all mosques in America are radicalized, many served as safe havens and meeting points for Islamic terrorist groups. Experts say there are at least 40 episodes of extremists and terrorists connected to mosques in the past decade alone. " It is simply a matter of doing your homework. My father, among others, wisely taught me to avoid putting my mouth (or pen) in gear before first ensuring my mental processes are fully engaged.

The federal agencies which together are charged with domestic security confirm the nature of the threat outlined above. The following comes from WorldNetDaily: The Mapping Sharia in America Project, sponsored by the Washington-based Center for Security Policy, trained former counterintelligence and counterterrorism agents from the FBI, CIA and U.S. military skilled in Arabic and Urdu to conduct undercover surveillance at some 2,300 mosques, Islamic centers and schools across the country "So far of 100 mapped, 75 should be on a watchlist," an official familiar with the project said. Many of them operate under the auspices of the Saudi Arabian government and radical Muslim Brotherhood based in Egypt. Frank Gaffney, former Pentagon official who runs the Center for Security Policy, said results of the survey have not yet been published, but confirmed "the vast majority" incite insurrection and jihad through sermons and anti-Western literature, videos and textbooks. The project, he

Throughout history God has extended mercies to mankind and done all possible to lead mankind into willing obedience. There is a point at which a person or a nation carries out his/its rebellion to the point where his/its "cup of wrath" is full. At that time justice must take precedence. You may reach out toward a flame, yet at some point you will be burned by that flame. Cause and effect. In those comparatively rare instances where God commanded the Israelites to destroy another people, a serious study of the target society reveals a mind-staggering level of violence and perversion in that society that threatened to degrade all around them. Yet He dealt most harshly with his own chosen people when they rebelled against His guidance. You can be excused for not having a complete understanding of the Scriptures. You would be amazed at how many professing Christians do not crack open and study their own "user's manual," let alone genuinely making an intensive study of the basis for the b

(4) there is only one true test of whether a person is truly a believing Christian "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23)), (5) the Bible is unique in that the Jews exposed all of their historical nature, warts and all, things done under the leadership of God and those done contrary to His will and the consequences of each tack. God is a Love, and is a God of mercy. However, as the perfect One who created all that is, Love is imperfect without the other side of the coin, which is justice. Would anyone respect a god who would permit evil to go unchecked? That is not love, rather permissiveness. A father who allows his children to do whatever pleases them without restraint demonstrates that he does not in fact love them.

http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/atrocities.html contains a solid response to some of the questions posed by Marissa R. In short form, (1) the atrocities of history were not committed by God, rather by evil people who at times claimed to be acting in the Name of god, (2) historically millions have been killed by people groups because they were from other readily identifiable groups, with less than 3% of them being due to religious beliefs, although practically everyone during the period possessed some form of religious belief (Numerically the top two killers of the 20th Century were self-proclaimed atheistic regimes), (3) Christianity should be judged on the basis of what Jesus said and did, not on the basis of the actions of people who merely claim to be Christians (Foxe's Book of Martyrs details the deaths of Christians who were killed because of their faith in Christ, in many cases by people claiming to be Christians),

Many people feel the christian "god" is one to be feared. He is a vengeful God. Also, Christianity has had it's fair shair of bloodshed and torture. Read your old testament- it ain't all nice! We should stop equating terrorists with Muslims, Arabs and Islam. Just because you are Muslim, Arabic or Islamic does not make you a terrorist. You remember at one time in our history the same was thought about Japanese people. We rounded them up and placed them in camps simply because of their race. Your article sounds like you would support that, which is scary. You have had much more experience than I have and I may be idealistic, but you can't throw away the freedom and ideals America was founded on without destroying our country.
