Billy Peek is one of the hottest blues musicians in the St. Louis area. He is a master guitarist writing and playing his own songs that delight crowds from miles around. He learned to play at an early age by listening to great blues entertainers like Little Milton and Ike Turner. Before he was even old enough to drink he would talk his way into night clubs in East St. Louis and St. Louis just to listen to these great musicians play.

In the 1960's he belted out his blues songs, playing behind Chuck Berry. In the 1970's he played with Rod Stewart being the guitarist soloist for the songs Hot Legs, and Ball Trap. He now has his own band playing in the St. Louis area to songs he wrote relating to his growing up and learning to play the blues.

Having produced several albums, The Answer is by far Billy's greatest achievement and my favorite album. It consists of ten blues songs written and performed by this masterful artist. His album, Can a White Boy Play the Blues? is also a great accomplishment sporting his signature song with the same name. My ten most favorite songs of this artist are:

1. Can a White Boy Play the Blues? This talks about how Billy grew up in south St. Louis and would sneak over to East St. Louis to learn how to play the blues. When he expressed his wanting to learn to play blues music, he was often told by the Blues Masters that, "A white boy can't play the blues." I love this song because Billy really describes what he went through to achieve his goal. He never gave up and he made it happen.

2. The Answer. This is a like a second part to Can a White Boy Play the Blues?. The statement in the song 'the truth is in the answer; there ain't no color in the blues' says it all. Billy has proved that the color his skin did not impede his abilities to achieve his goal of singing the blues.

3. St. Louis Woman. With this song Billy describes how only a St. Louis woman can satisfy his needs. I think the loyalty he shows to his home town and what it has to offer is great.
