Alaffia.com is a website that sells sustainable skin care products. They make their own skin care products with their handcrafted shea butter. The shea butter is unrefined and great for your skin. Alaffia also does not test on animals if that is a concern of yours. The goal of the company is to educate people about the fair trade of shea butter to help place fair monetary value on the skills of African women who produce this product. This helps these women in their quest to obtain gender equality in their families. Proceeds from their sales benefit projects to enhance self reliance and sustainability. The company produces their own shea butter in small amounts in the state of Washington.

Shea butter is made from the oil from the nuts of wild Shea tress which grow in West and Central Africa. It is said to be good for conditions such as wrinkles, dry skin, psoriasis, stretch marks, burns, arthritis, chapped lips, sun damage, cracked heels and elbows, small wounds, diaper rash, insect bites, and muscle fatigue. I find it to be great for dry skin and lips. It keeps my skin very soft. I have also used it on my hair on occasions where it was extra dry. Applying it before shampooing helps protect your hair from chemicals.

Alaffia.com sells a variety of great products. They have products made especially for face, body, and hair care. The Shea Butter Facial Cleansing Milk is a favorite of mine. It is a very gentle cleanser that removes oil and makeup. However, it does not dry out my skin even in the winter. It sells for $17 for a large bottle. Their shea and cocoa butter lip balm is great for chapped lips. It tastes like mocha from the cocoa butter. A stick costs $3.50.

The site also sells a variety of body creams and lotions. My favorite is the Virgin Coconut Cream because it is so light and creamy. It is made of coconut oil and coconut oil so it smells great like coconut and lemongrass. There are several vitamins inside to protect skin. A four ounce jar sells for $14.00
