You can’t go to a barbecue or a pool party without hearing one of the top songs by legendary leisure crooner Jimmy Buffett. Whether he’s talking about cheeseburgers or Juicy Fruit, he has entertained parrot-heads for decades. Grab a margarita and put on a Hawaiian shirt as we break down the Top Ten Songs by Jimmy Buffett.

10 – Last Mango in Paris – Just straight-up regular Jimmy Buffett. With talk of exotic locales and even more exotic fruit, Buffett takes listeners away to another world on this great Buffett song. Definitely deserves a place on a Top Ten Songs by Jimmy Buffett list.

9 – It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere – If you want to get technical, this isn’t an ACTUAL Jimmy Buffett song, as it was originally recorded by Alan Jackson with a cameo appearance by Buffett. However, the song was a hit, and Buffett has taken to singing it at all his concerts. A recent Buffett song, it sticks to the tried-and-true leisure subject matter, and definitely a great Jimmy Buffett tune to kick back with by the pool.

8 – Volcano – Great Buffett song. Catchy little rhythm, lyrics of exotic island danger, and all the while done with the typical Buffett light sense of humor. Throw in a frustratingly catchy chorus, and you’ve got the number eight greatest Jimmy Buffett song.

7 – Take Another Road – You know how some musicians who have been around forever have songs that you’ve always known but never knew that they were the ones who recorded it? This is that song. I don’t know where I heard it before I found out it was a Buffett, but I was shocked when I found it out. A hidden treasure in the Buffett song library.

6 – He Went to Paris – While he may be known as a party song guru, Jimmy Buffett knows how to pull at the heartstrings a bit as well. This Buffett ballad, which tells the story of a man recounting his full life looking back during old age, does a nice job at tugging. Nice soothing melody, and a message that’ll make you feel warm and fuzzy all over.

There are so many good songs and everyone has an opinion. You do yourself a disservice choosing only 10. Among my favorites (in no particular harbor...uh, I mean order): "Come Monday" "School Boy Heart" "Delaney Talks to Statutes" "Manana" "Pasgagoula Run" "Public Relations" "Captain and the Kid" "Nautical Wheelers" and "The Great Filling Station Holdup" Well done - 5 of 5 for you!
