My father introduced me to Stella D'oro cookies many years ago, when he first began bringing home Stella D'oro sesame-seed cookies; I checked the company's web site and the company apparently no longer makes these tasty, crumbly, sweet cookies (which had but a hint of almond and the warm flavor of sesame seeds)---which explains why we have not been able to find them in stores over the past few years(!). But we have not despaired, because the company still produces a number of other snacks that are unbeatable and certainly do a beautiful job complementing a good cup of coffee.
I have taken to a number of Stella D'oro products, but one that I find myself having to monitor my consumption with the most is their biscotti. There is an Italian-American bakery nearby that my family has frequented for decades and the Stella D'oro biscotti tastes nearly as good and fresh as the biscotti we have purchased from the local establishment. Now, that is saying a lot for Stella D'oro, because don't forget I am comparing here a packaged cookie bought at the grocery store compared to a fresh-baked item at a bakery.
