New foods are identified every day as foods that help people lose weight. Most of these reports are highly exaggerated. Here are four foods that have been recently identified to help people lose weight and the truth about these claims.

Eggs: According to a news report in Medical News Today, eggs can help you lose weight and stabilize glucose levels.Leucine, an essential amino acid found in eggs helps reduce loss of muscle and promote body fat loss as well. The truth is that by increasing the amount of eggs you consume will help you to retain muscle mass and therefore help you burn fat cells. This is common knowledge. It is also common knowledge that eating too many eggs can raise your cholesterol level. According to a Mayo Clinic report, one egg a day and no more is a good idea as long as you cut cholesterol in other areas. The bottom line is that eating more eggs can help you to lose weight when combined with a sensible diet and exercise. You do however; need to watch your cholesterol level by limiting your egg intake or avoiding yolks.

Green tea: According to WebMD, green tea increases thermogenesis, increasing body heat and metabolism. In addition, studies have shown that green tea is more raises the metabolism much more effectively that caffeine, especially when combined with ephedrine. The report goes on to say that green tea alone will not help you lose weight. It must be combined with proper diet and exercise to do any good. In fact, a report at newscientist.com says that consuming too much green tea, especially in the form of green tea supplements can be toxic. Any more than 10 small cups of green tea a day is a bad ideas. In other words, drink green tea, but don't get carried away.

Great article. I enjoy both chocolate and green tea, but in moderation., of course. I think that's generally the key to most good things - moderation. :-)
