Top Ten Songs by George Strait
An American Country Music Artist
Born on May 18, 1952, George Harvey Strait is my all-time favorite country singer. Besides his awesome singing, I enjoyed his acting as well in the movie ‘Pure Country’ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105191/). In fact, my top three songs come from the film’s soundtrack.1. I Cross My Heart #1- ‘Pure Country’ (1992)
What woman wouldn’t want to hear her lover speak these words? “I cross my heart and promise to give all I've got to give to make all your dreams come true. In all the world you'll never find a love as true as mine. You will always be the miracle that makes my life complete, And as long as there's a breath in me, I'll make yours just as sweet. As we look into the future, it's as far as we can see, So let's make each tomorrow be the best that it can be.” The love between George’s character “Dusty” and his girlfriend Harley (played by Isabel Glasser) is reflected in so tenderly in their eyes and smiles. This song has been used over the years as the “perfect wedding song” for many.
2. Heartland #1 - ‘Pure Country’ (1992)
This fast tempo, full throttle country song, complete with steel guitars, violins, drums and pyrotechnics, will get you on your feet in no time flat. It is the first song in the film where we get introduced to “Dusty” and his concert-touring life. It describes what living in the country’s heartland is all about - Opry music, endless blue mornings, simple people living side by side and neighbors waving as they drive.
3. Last in Love - ‘Pure Country’ (1992)
A sad love song that everyone at one time has experienced at one time or another. “Blues outside my door, I don't even know if it's rainin'. But I've been here before, and I don't want to be here again. Every now and then voices on the wind call me back to the first time. Far away and clear you can hear the teardrops fallin' for the last in love.”
