Circus Ponies NoteBook - a Fantastic Note Taking App for Mac

As I've written about previously, MacHeist recently sold a bundle of applications, both to raise awareness of independent Mac software developers and to raise money for charity. In those regards, it was a rousing success, as over 40,000 people purchased the bundle, which raised half a million dollars for charity.

Along with the 14 included applications was the possibility to "earn" two more applications, by getting people to purchase the bundle through your referrer link. Sadly (for me), I was unable to do so. One of the two applications possible via this method was a note-taking application from Circus Ponies Software, called simply NoteBook, or more often Circus Ponies NoteBook.

Although I didn't "win" a free copy of NoteBook, I recently took a look at it anyway, to see if I thought it would be worth purchasing. The price - $49.00 for a license - initially struck me as a bit pricey, so it's fair to say I was a bit hesitant going in.

And I think it's safe to say that assessment is still valid, although Circus Ponies NoteBook is definitely a quality product.

After inputting the demo license (you have to sign up for a 30-day trial license, which I don't like), I was quite amazed at all the choices I was offered up front. As opposed to other note-taking and organization software, Circus Ponies NoteBook give the user a choice, right from the beginning, of a dozen or so templates. Want to collect recipes, or create an outline? How about a to-do list or write a research paper? Circus Ponies NoteBook has support for those tasks, as well as managing a project, preparing for a trial, organizing a TV or film shoot, as well as writing a book or novel, planning a trip, keeping a journal or getting ready for school (whether "school" is high school, college or home school).
