"She Is Forever" - a poem lamenting lost opportunity

She was forever...
frolicking in the green-blue clear playing surf
               of our only world,
reflecting the ever high afternoon burn
               of our sun:
    grinning, smiling, laughing
               her perfectly pinking mouth
               crystal eyes sparkling,
               gentle hands giving,
               spontaneous passion releasing -
                   experienced innocence,
                   calculated deference,
                   measured enjoyment
                   of us.

She is forever...
                   I wasn't.

Seek and respond to Love now. Love, now, while you still can. This is not an invitation to promiscuity. Neither is it an endorsement of superficial "hook-ups." Neither is it a denial that Love is not without challenges and, many times, can result in separation, heartache, and emotional devastation.
Simply: love, live, learn, love - and your life will be worth living.

Wow that video is amazing and I know exactly what makes it fit into this poem. I can definitely relate. There is much passion in your poetry.

Really cool poem here Michael. I love to read the perspectives people see and the vast differences that come out. I think its the brilliance of poetry that allows this to happen and the writer who can generalize so people can take their own related history from it. Kudos to you~

"Carpe Diem " 'Nuff said ;-) Your take-aways and comments are just as prolific as your prose..Excellent exploration and this should be read at every "man" class..I didn't read this as a piece advocating the mere pursuit of lustful behavior. You revealed the importance of embracing love and the neg. consequence of not seizing that opp.

Wow Michael this is so sweet and creative. I love the last line, unfortunately it is so mannish. Women are so much more loyal at least when young, men mature later and then, many times they are the most loyal of creatures. You are very sensitive and talented, keep writing, you rock!!

Excellent admonition! Only the Lord knows what tomorrow may bring. I am so glad time is in His hands!

Interesting perspective, melpol. The Love I speak to is not quantitative, but qualitative. Some, actually many, never have or never recognize the opportunity to "harvest" it - Love elludes them for an entire life. One doesn't "get" love; two SHARE Love. Read Erich Fromm's The Art of Loving and the poetry of e.e. cummings. She (or He) is not/may not be forever: carpe diem! Love lasts than four hours, melpol, and the only one you need to call is Her - and pray to God, She still answers. Caveat venditor, Michael
