I don't often recommend kitchen gadgets, but the MISTO® Olive Oil Sprayer is an exception to this.  I use a lot of olive oil for cooking, and the MISTO® sprayer delivers a controllable spray of oilve oil into a skillet, casserole, or baking pan.  It's washable, refillable, and uses kitchen air for the propellant.  I've saved a bundle of money because I'm not buying aerosol cans of cooking spray.

Product Features

  • Non-aerosol spray bottle for spraying cooking oils, flavored oils, and even almond oil massage oil.

  • Put about 1/3 cup oil into the bottle, pump the cap 5 or 6 times, then spray a mist of oil into the casserole dish or skillet.

  • Satin-finish aluminum, or stainless steel

  • 7-5/8 inches high by 1-7/8 inches in diameter

  • Hand washable

Cost: It pays to shop around, because current prices vary from $8 - $34.00 (yes, that's thirty-four dollars!) on and off-line.

Tips: If you make your own flavored vegetable oils, filter the oil through a paper coffee filter.  Tiny bits fo garlic or chilis will quickly clog the nozzle.  Don't use the sprayer for anything but vegetable oils.

Cleaning your MISTO® Olive Oil Sprayer

MISTO® will need to be cleaned every 6 to 8 weeks to keep it spraying.

  1. Fill the MISTO® 1/2 full with hot tap water.

  2. Add one drop liquid detergent.

  3. Replace the sprayer top and shake the sprayer.

  4. Pump the cap 10-15 times.

  5. Spray for ten seconds.

  6. Leave the soapy water in the sprayer for several hours or overnight. This will break down any oil that has solidified in the sprayer.

  7. Fill the MISTO® 1/2 full with hot tap water.

  8. Replace the sprayer top and shake the sprayer.

  9. Pump the cap 10-15 times.

  10. Spray for ten seconds.

  11. Repeat steps 10 and 11 several times.

  12. Empty the hot water and refill the sprayer with 1/4 to 1/3 cup of oilve oil.

Troubleshooting your MISTO® Olive Oil Sprayer

IMPORTANT: If you can't remember the last time you cleaned the sprayer, clean it and see if the problem goes away.
