Eastern US "Winter Storm" Not Nearly as Bad as Predicted

On Thursday, we heard it on the news ~ Winter storm predicted for most of the Eastern US! What I've come to see is that they must not have been talking about us...That day started off quite mild. In the early part of the day the sun was working on it's stretching exercises and as the day progressed disappeared behind a thin veil of clouds. Around evening a very soft drizzle of rain began to pelt the pavement outside, and the temperature started to plunge. By the time it was dark, there was a steady rainfall on the roof of my house.
It was a soothing rain, not too harsh and it never turned into any type of wintry mix to my knowledge. The next morning when I woke, the rain continued to fall. And by Saturday morning, after sleeping in, I popped out of bed to peek out of the window shades to see if any snow had covered the landscape, with as much excitement as a little girl wishing for snow on a school day. But, to my disappointment, none was there.
In fact, by the time I made my way out that afternoon, it was so warm that I didn't need a jacket or a sweater. I could have gone sleeveless with my usual sandals (North Carolina is typically a warmer climate) if I was daring enough. Where's the snow? Where's the hyped-up wintry mix that was supposed to continue on into the weekend?
Again, I lost a lot of trust and confidence in weather reporters. But that was ok. I was so happy to feel the same warmth that I felt earlier in the week before all this hype was started.
Watching the news, however, other parts of the eastern U.S. did not stay so warm as we did. As a matter of fact, we seem to be one of the warmer spots in the US right now. Oh how I love living here.
It seemed like all the cats in the entire neighborhood also enjoyed the warm weather. The sun was so beautiful in the blue sky, I was even inspired to work in the yard a little.
