I've been experiencing spicy foods since I was very young, because my family constantly uses hot spices on all of their food so naturally I have a love for hot sauce. Which hot sauce is my favorite? Well that's the harder question. There are so many quality choices that choosing just one can be a challenge. Hot sauce options range in heat, Tabasco sauce definitely is not the hottest brand; it is just the most popular. Recently my aunt introduced me to Dave's Gourmet, which is a line of extremely spicy hot sauces that can be ordered online.

The Ultimate Insanity Hot Sauce is produced naturally from Red Habanero peppers; the difference between this brand and Tabasco sauce is the lack of artificial ingredients. Tabasco sauce is created using traditional chili sauce, whereas Dave's Gourmet is made using fresh tomato sauce, onions, hot pepper extract, and a few other ingredients like xanthan gum and vegetable oil.

Dave's Gourmet is billed as the hottest sauce in the universe. There is only one hot sauce produced by Dave's Gourmet and that is their private label brand which is produced once a year. You can find Ultimate Insanity at restaurants and specialty grocery stores; I managed to find a bottle at Trader Joes.

Now I'm sure your wondering just how hot is Ultimate Insanity? There is a warning label on the side so I can imagine it is pretty dangerous in large amounts. I would suggest trying a dab on your finger before purchasing so you can gauge the heat. I use this sauce in most of my spicy Mexican dished like Spanish rice, where it provides a decent amount of heat. Using this sauce with soup can actually be quite tricky, I would recommend sticking to one drop at a time, I used this in chicken noodle soup and it turned out delicious.

This sauce works great with snack trays, especially on the big game. I mixed this into a bean dip tray and we all thought it was delicious. I've also used this on seafood, shrimp salad and beer battered fish filets. It didn't over power the seafood to the point where you thought you were eating barbeque; instead it provided just enough heat to make the dish exciting.
