Do you often wonder why there is so much violence in the world today? I do but, I don't have an answer to that question. I have found that within not even a week there were at least two shootings here in Las Vegas and the surrounding schools went on lock down. My daughter's school was one of them. The middles school she attends resides next to the high school. It was about time to pick up our child from school when we see a car race past, not thinking much of it we came back after going to the gas station and see that a young man was laying on the ground with ambulances and police all around. The car that rushed past us just happened to do a drive by shooting and hit an innocent kid. The kid didn't make it. The same day not even five minutes after the shooting another school went on lock down due to a shooting.
Is it not safe to walk out of your front door anymore? One would have to wonder. It seems everyday anymore there is something on the news about a high school or a college shooting. What ever happened to just a punch in the nose or a smack in the face? There is no need to kill over anything. It's as if there is no unity or freedom. I am not talking about speech, but I am talking about being able to walk outside or let your child go to school without the fear of a phone call. I can't imagine what the parents felt when they received that call. I know that my heart skipped a beat as soon as I saw the child laying there. The scary part is where were the parents when this was going on? How did they get the guns? That is the thing I wonder.
After reading the newspaper I find it mentioned that the motive was over gang signs. That the boy didn't mean to hit the student he just wanted to scare him. There is a big difference in scaring someone than killing. I know that I am still worried to this day about the shooting because it happened not far from my daughter's school and yet she still has to go. Even though the police patrol the streets, there is still that possibility. Even if all children and teens were searched they would still manage to find a weapon. What do you do?
First be sure to educate your child and don't let them walk alone to school. Second, be aware what your child is doing and keep track of what time they are supposed to be returning if they happen to do a sleep over. Third, always keep your guns or knives locked up and away from your child. Teach your child be safe and please be aware.

great detail in this piece, I don't think the school's apply themselves in the right ways to make sure everything is safe for the students, more needs to be done honestly.

great article im glad your not another person thinking its vulgar tv violent movies and video games that are causing these shootings because that is bullcrap it is the parents fault for not teaching their kids if they are having trouble at school to stand up for yourself or just let it go it will go away and with all the recent shooting im surprised more parents arent using them as examples to say its better to get suspended for punching some kid than go to jail for killing him

great advice and it really makes us wonder if we or our children are safe anymore.
