Image Resizing Mobile Site: Abphone
The images found on the internet are very large. A typical image may be as large as a few hundred kilobytes and the resolution would be equally large too. The image is suited for viewing via a PC monitor. How many of us have wished that some of those images can be viewed on a mobile phone? I'm sure many would have because the wallpapers and images that are made specially for a mobile phone available in the market right now isn't exactly praiseworthy. Plus, one has to pay for those images too. When a PC oriented image is attempted to be downloaded to a phone, the result is most probably the image will be too large to be loaded. Even if it can be downloaded it will take up a lot of memory and wont leave space for anything else. The phone will also display only a part of the image due to its larger resolution.
This is where Abphone comes in. Abphone is a mobile site or also known as a wapsite. The site offers a very useful service- mobile phone image resizing. The site searches images from the internet, very similar to google's image search, based on keywords. The matching images are then displayed in a few pages and the user can browse the images one by one. Once the user has found the desired image, the user can then either download the image directly (unadvisable) or resize it. Under the preferences menu, the user can set the desired height and width of the picture to be downloaded. The user can also choose to zoom in to the picture and move the view around so that only a certain portion of the picture can be downloaded. The picture can also be rotated.
