Billy Bob's Wonderland in Barboursville, WV is a popular hot spot for kids in the tristate area. Many parents choose their venue as a place to have their children's birthday parties as it offers pizza and a show-type of atmosphere. They have an arcade, games, and small amusement rides that are coin operated. Billy Bob's Wonderland also has a ball pit that younger patrons can have fun in, since their ages are restrictive when it comes to the amusements offered.

On Saturday night, February 23, 2008, my family went to Billy Bob's Wonderland for a fun evening out with some friends. They had brought their little four-year-old girl along to play with our two youngest children. Billy Bob's Wonderland is not cheap, either, when you bring your family there for a night out, you better be prepared to shell out at least $50-$60 for food and amusements. Their food is average, at best, and the service leaves much to be desired.

After spending $70 for our family to eat and play, we were winding down to the last ten minutes of our outing. The four-year-olds and our daughter, who is in kindergarten, were playing in the ball pit. I had left the children under the supervision of our friends for thirty seconds and walked to a game beside the ball pit. When I looked back, my kindergarten-aged daughter was weeping hysterically and frightened. It seems that as soon as I turned my head, an employee (a teenage boy) approached the ball pit and told my daughter to exit. She complied and he grabbed her hand and measured her by the height restriction chart. He, then, informed her she was too tall to be in the ball pit and would not let her go back to playing with her friend and little brother.

I can't believe this place has a ball pit. They are very unsanitary. I was told that Chuck E. Cheese restaurants have removed all of their ball pits.

Welcome back, my friend! I am so angry for you. That is a horrible, horrible story. I would be tempted to file a police report, then if they refused to show the video tape you would know for sure that he DID touch her. This is totally unacceptable. Send me a message with the address and I'll write a nasty note for you!

Thanks for the heads up.

Thank you for the warning. What a horrible way to treat your daughter and your family. That employee had absolutely no right to put his hands on your little girl and scare her that way.Even if she was three inches over the height restriction, it should have been handled differently.

Yes, welcome back! Good, honest review of this... it's unfortunate that they handled the situation so awfully, even if your daughter was over the height requirements.

I would ask to see this "surveillance video proof" the manager referred to--I bet they'd refuse. The manager handled that terribly, and should be held accountable for doing so. In addition, the establishment deserves to suffer business/financial loss as a result of operating in this manner and treating patrons like this. Tell the world, anyone who will listen, as loud as you can of this experience!!!

Welcome back, Alice. Hope you're feeling well. This incident is not only infuriating, but frightening as well. You say the boy had bothered your little girl and your friend's little girl. Did you see him bother any little boys? Sounds to me like he may be a pervert who preys on little girls, especially since he left your friend's little girl alone when he saw her mother watching. You did right to write this, but I wonder if you should also write letters to editors of every local newspaper in your area and try to warn others to stay away from this place.
