Motrin IB works! Let me give you a little background of what I deal with when it comes to pain. I have learned to live with pain daily for the past twenty or so years when my degenerated disc disease started. I have three degenerated discs in my neck rubbing bone on bone. My mobility to turn my neck is limited especially to the right side of me. I have not been one to take pills in general, even taking myself off of important prescriptions like Toprol XL two years ago or Hormone Replacement Therapy four years ago. My pain especially acts up when I'm at the computer typing. For several months I was just taking simple aspirin now and then when it would be to the point where I needed to lie down. I am now taking Motrin IB for this pain and I have really seen a major improvement with the pain, allowing me to even sleep through the night again. Motrin IB has 200 mg of Ibuprofen. I have heard that Ibuprofen is what you want to take when it comes to arthritic or any type pain in your joints. I have also heard that taking an acetaminophen for this type pain works too. However, I have tried Tylenol which has an acetaminophen but it never did the job for me. Motrin IB is my saving grace now.

I was curious to see what really the difference between an ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and aspirin products are. So I checked out some information from some professionals on the Internet and this is what I found.

Takeaways
  • Ibuprofen takes away the pain, fever, and inflammation of the area
  • Acetaminophen takes away the pain and fever, however it is easier on the stomach.
  • Aspirin takes away pain and fever, however it does not reduce inflammation of the area
Did You Know?
An ibuprofen can upset the stomach. Now like ibuprofens, acetaminophen does the same thing of relieving pain and reducing fever, however it doesn't reduce the swelling and inflammation around the area of pain.

Excelent article. Motrin IB is great stuff for sure, but if the pain lasts a very long time (like my wife's foot condition), we cycle the three every few days or so, just to be safe. Also, acetometaphin is very hard on the liver, so be careful not to overuse it!

Great review! I prefer Motrin for certain things, though I often use Tylenol.

What a terrific topic. When we owned our store - lots of people came in and asked which of these they should use for a certain pain. I felt like a pharmacist explaining the differences between Motrin, aspirin, ibuprofen, etc. This was outstanding!

This is good information to know. I'm always teetering, trying to decide which one.

I've always liked Motrin for me and the kids.... it just seems to bring down fevers much quicker! Great info!

Excellent review! I always prefer Motrin and for the kids, I will only use children's Motrin. It takes away fevers, aches, and swellings ASAP. With Tylenol, my kids break out (they're mildly allergic) and they have to wait hours and a couple doses for any results. With Motrin, it starts working in 30 minutes or less. :-)

Motrin is good medicine, but I can't take it due to having a gastric bypass surgery... so I have to take celebrex.
