The Library Sports Pub and Grill of Novi, MI claims that it's an upscale restaurant for everyone, a family oriented place. As much as people are dying to get their kids around beer-filled sports fans, a smoky bar and people shouting curse words over a pool table, some would beg to differ with that assertion.

However, for a younger, child-free crowd, the Library Pub is the place to be to watch games, get together with friends and enjoy good food and drinks without emptying your wallet.

Besides being semi-low budget, there are several advantages to dining at the Library Pub. First, the fact that it has the word "library" in it will drive away any illiterate, crass men wearing flannel who will hit on you or your friends. Needless to say, the company is relatively good, mostly consisting of 20- and 30-somethings with groups of friends.

The food and service surpasses the guests. This burger-and-fries bar seats and serves customers quickly. Since it opens at 11 a.m. almost every day (it opens at noon on Sunday, for all those who go to church before they hit the bar), the Library Pub is perfect for a quick lunch if you work in the Novi area. Go in knowing what you want and you'll be out in half an hour.

The food, although generic, is good. The burgers are nothing to write home about, but are worth coming back for. The high quality and freshness of the meat used makes the pub an obvious choice over the slew of burger-serving restaurants one has to choose from.

For those who are looking for a good nighttime hangout spot, the Library Pub is also a good choice. The beer and drinks range from moderate to cheap but the low price doesn't mean low quality. Thankfully, there is ample space, as the pub fills up quickly during weekends and games. Televisions cover the walls, making this a great place to catch the game.

For non-sports fans, there are other options. Pool tables line one part of the bar and bands often come to play. The only drawback is that on nights when bands are there, the place can get very crowded, despite the ample room they usually have.

Takeaways
  • The Library Pub is good if you're on a budget
  • The service is fast and the food is high quality for the price you pay
  • It is a popular spot to go on game night or to see bands on the weekends.
