How about those New York Yankees, my team, the team that's been compared to the Nazis in ‘Raiders of the Lost Arc', the most vilified sports franchise on earth; I said, how about those Yankees?

(NOTE: This article features the gloat-heavy ramblings of an over zealous Yankee fan- the same guy who drunkenly bet a friend $20 that the 2005 Yanks would win the World Series literally 10 seconds before A-Rod grounded into that double play in Game 5 of the ALDS series against the Angels.)

I hate when people make statements like, "there is a certain amount of pride that comes with being a Yankee fan". I also hate the term "Yankee Magic" and I'm not a big fan of pinstripes either (just once I'd like the Yankees to adopt an alternate uniform for marketing purposes; we need to get down on the level of all those other "fans", let them know we're human, you know). I'm not a condescending jerk and either are most Yankee fans. We're just regular people who expect our team to win the World Series every single year. What's wrong with that?

In the late 90's, when the Yankees started winning championships like F-bombs in ‘The Big Lebowski' I was still in high school. The first one was awesome; I think I teared up a little. But the next couple of wins were almost expected. I took those for granted. And sure six years of no World Series wins and two losses is nothing to cry about. I could bring up Boston's drought and the current plight of the Chicago Cubs but how tired are those arguments? Sheesh.

The bottom line is that there is a tradition when it comes to the New York Yankees and that tradition only involves one thing: winning the World Series. I'm sorry but when a sports team has won their league's perspective championship over 20% of the time and their league is over 100 years old, that is beyond domination. That is some downright tie em' up, S&M, leather shit. (I realize that this is not breaking news.)
